I cannot find words strong enough to express how gawd-awful the state of our meat packing industry has been for altogether too long!! Put these abuses and safety issues together with the environmental damage caused and it should stop any of us in our tracks!!!!

I’m neither vegan nor vegetarian, Tara, but I have dramatically reduced my meat consumption over the past several years. I only eat red meat a few times a year at this point; mostly I stick to fish and poultry (even though the former contains microplastics — per John Oliver’s most recent segment — and the conditions the latter are subjected to are indeed appalling in their own right). It’s just more proof the entire social compact needs a page-one rewrite. Thanks for posting this, Cindy.
